Service Description
A fun, calm and supportive small-group book club designed to help young readers build confidence, deepen their understanding and discover the joy of talking about books. Over six weeks, we'll explore Secret Beast Club: The Dragons of Emerald Yard by Robin Birch together — following the adventure, sharing ideas, making predictions and getting to know the characters and their mysterious world. What happens each week? Each live session is led by me, Tania, a qualified teacher (QTS), and combines book talk with fun, age-appropriate activities. Children will: discuss characters, events and their favourite moments make predictions about what might happen next discover interesting vocabulary and author choices share their own ideas and interpretations take part in short creative activities inspired by the story enjoy talking about books with other young readers A confidence-first approach There are no tests and no pressure to perform. Children are encouraged to contribute but will never be put on the spot. The aim is to create a relaxed space where every child can grow in confidence and feel that their ideas about books are worth sharing. Why small groups? With a maximum of six children, everyone has the opportunity to contribute while still experiencing the fun of reading as part of a group. Children can listen to different ideas, learn from one another and become part of a little reading community. Book Club Details 6-week live book club Ages 7+ Maximum 6 children 1-hour weekly sessions Online via Zoom Led by a qualified teacher (QTS) Before joining Your child will need their own copy of Secret Beast Club: The Dragons of Emerald Yard. Children should be able to read the assigned sections of the book between sessions, either independently or with some support at home. Sessions work best on a laptop or computer with a stable internet connection. Who is this club for? Cancellation Policy
Reading Club Policy The Reading Club runs as a 6-week programme. Payment of £40 secures your child’s place for the full programme. Spaces are limited to ensure a calm, supportive, and engaging group environment. Missed Sessions If your child is unable to attend a session, sessions cannot be refunded or transferred. A short summary of the reading covered can be provided so your child can stay up to date with the story. Cancellations Cancellations made more than 7 days before the programme begins will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 7 days of the start date are non-refundable, as places are limited and cannot usually be filled at short notice. Behaviour Expectations The Reading Club is designed to be a positive and respectful space where children feel confident sharing their ideas. Children are expected to: participate respectfully listen to others contribute in a supportive way If behaviour significantly disrupts the group, Mindset Counts reserves the right to remove a participant from the programme. Minimum Numbers If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the programme may be rescheduled or cancelled. In this case, a full refund will be provided.
