Reading Comprehension Packs
Help your child build confidence, independence and true comprehension through structured, offline reading practice.
Our Reading Packs work alongside books your child can already read, using structured questions, creative tasks and gentle mindset and metacognitive prompts to support inference, interpretation, reasoning and meaningful connection to the text. Each pack includes three full booklets, so you can choose the style that suits your child best - or switch between them whenever needed.
Includes six carefully designed booklets to support reading before, during, and after reading:

A structured comprehension booklet with a full page of questions for each chapter. Covers retrieval, vocabulary, inference and explanation skills - ideal for children who like clear, traditional comprehension.

An engaging creative booklet with drawing tasks, sequencing, themes, character emotions, wheels, vocabulary builders and reflective prompts - perfect for visual learners and neurodiverse children.

A blended booklet combining chapter questions with creative activities. Ideal for children who need variety or benefit from switching between formats.

A curated list of rich vocabulary from the book, plus a blank template so children can build their own personal glossary as they read.

Includes chapter summaries, key vocabulary, conversation prompts and tips for supporting reading at home - designed to help you feel confident guiding your child’s learning.

A complete answer guide with explained answers - helping adults understand why answers are correct, and supporting meaningful marking discussions with your child.

How The Packs Work
1. Choose a Book Pack
Pick a chapter book your child will enjoy, and make sure you have a copy at home. Purchase links are available in each pack description. Each pack is designed around one book, helping children stay engaged, motivated, and connected to the story.
2. Download Your Resources
You instantly receive:
-
the main booklet, which includes both questions and activities
-
the Glossary Booklet
-
the Parent Guide
-
the full Answer Booklet
Everything is ready to use straight away. You can print the main booklet one chapter at a time if you prefer, and keep the Parent Guide, glossary, and answers on a device for easy reference.
3. Get Familiar with the Resources
Take a few minutes to look through the booklet and supporting resources before getting started. The main booklet includes a mix of questions and activities to help your child think carefully about what they are reading, helping to build understanding, and keeping them engaged. The Parent Guide helps you support discussions at home, the Glossary Booklet explains key vocabulary, and the Answer Booklet gives clear guidance so you can feel confident guiding your child.
4. Your Child Reads - Independently or With You
There are lots of ways to use the pack, but these are the two most common:
A. Independent reading + optional discussion + booklet tasks
Your child reads a chapter independently and then completes the matching booklet page. You can add a short discussion if you wish, using the prompts in the Parent Guide to support you.
B. Shared reading + discussion + booklet tasks
You read the chapter together, talk about the story using the prompts in the Parent Guide, and then complete the booklet page together or let your child try it independently when they feel ready.
If you are supporting your child with the questions, the Answer Booklet includes guidance to help you model thinking and discuss answers together. Both approaches build confidence, understanding, and strong reading habits over time. We encourage you to respond to your child’s confidence levels and emotions by adjusting the amount of support they need on any given day.
5. Review, Reflect & Celebrate Progress
The Answer Booklet explains why answers are correct, helping you guide your child with confidence. We believe children benefit most when they are part of the marking process, as this helps them understand mistakes, reflect on their thinking, and improve next time. So please do not skip this step, it may just be the most important step!
Use the parent guide and answer booklet to:
-
check understanding
-
clarify tricky vocabulary
-
celebrate great thinking
-
revisit chapters if needed
Your pack includes everything you need for calm and meaningful reading at home.
FAQs
What age are the Reading Packs for?
Our Reading Packs are designed for children aged 7+ who are reading chapter books. Each book has its own recommended reading age, but children both younger and older may still benefit depending on their reading confidence and level of support.
What if my child finds reading difficult?
The packs are designed to support children who are reading at roughly age 7+ level, while still keeping the experience calm, flexible, and encouraging.
The main booklet includes a mix of questions and activities, so children can engage with the text in different ways. Some may prefer to talk through answers first, complete tasks together, or work more independently as their confidence grows. The Parent Guide, Glossary Booklet, and Answer Booklet are all there to help you give the right level of support without pressure.
How long does each chapter take?
Most families find that chapters take 10–20 minutes to read, and the accompanying booklet page can take another 10–15 minutes.
There is no rush. You can do a little each day or a few chapters at a time.
Do I need to buy the book as well?
Yes - each Reading Pack is designed to be used alongside the chapter book. This keeps the experience enjoyable, immersive and authentic for your child. If they own the book, we highly encourage children to annotate their books as they read, but you could borrow from the library. A link to each book is included in each packs summary.
Do I need to teach them?
No formal teaching is required. You simply guide, encourage and chat about the story. To bond and enjoy reading time with your child.

Others may benefit from shared reading, discussion, or a little support with some questions and activities. The packs are designed to be flexible, so you can adapt them to suit your child.
How long does each pack last?
A typical pack lasts 2–4 weeks, depending on:
-
the length of the book
-
how many chapters you read at a time

how much discussion and reflection you include
Some families work steadily through the full pack, while others dip in and out more gradually.
Can we go at our own pace?
Absolutely. The packs are designed to fit around family life. You do not need to complete everything quickly. Some families read little and often, while others prefer longer sessions a few times a week.
